Engineers Week 2026: A Special Visit from Abbott

3rd Mar 2026

As part of our Engineers Week 2026 celebrations, our 5th classes were delighted to welcome visitors from Abbott to our school.

The team from Abbott shared fascinating insights into the world of engineering, particularly how engineers play a vital role in healthcare innovation. Pupils learned how engineering helps design and manufacture life-changing medical devices, and how teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving are central to every project.

Through engaging presentations and hands-on activities, the students explored real-world engineering challenges. They discovered how subjects like maths, science, and technology are applied in exciting and meaningful ways every day. There were plenty of thoughtful questions from our budding engineers!

The visit provided a wonderful opportunity for our 5th class pupils to see how classroom learning connects to real careers. It also highlighted the many different pathways available within engineering — from design and research to manufacturing and quality control.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Abbott team for giving their time, expertise, and enthusiasm to inspire the next generation of engineers.

Engineers Week 2026 has certainly sparked curiosity and ambition among our students — who knows, we may have some future engineers in our midst!
