Hometown Hero Returns
Our school community was delighted to welcome back former pupil, Finn Sherlock, who returned to the school this week to visit staff and students following his fantastic achievement of representing Ireland at the U-17 World Cup in Qatar. Finn and his teammates' World Cup journey came to an end at the Last 16 stage after a defeat to Switzerland. Prior to the Switzerland game, they had been in remarkable form and were unbeaten in the group stage. The team can be very proud of themselves as they become the first male Irish team to reach the Last 16 since the senior team in 2002.
Representing Ireland on the world stage, as well as proudly carrying the name of his hometown, Cootehill, Finn had a brilliant tournament. His skill, hard work and determination earned him recognition both at home and internationally.
Staff and pupils alike were inspired by his achievements and the positive example he sets for the young athletes in our school and across the local community.
We are incredibly proud of Finn and look forward to following his continued success in the years ahead.
