Happy New Year to Everyone!

Athbhlian faoi shean is faoi mhaise daoibh go léir!

As we start a new year a word of thanks to all who supported the school over the past few months since September. We have had two major fundraisers last term-the school Dance-a-thon and the Christmas, both of which raised €4000 approximately. This money has been used to offset the cost of the Shelter and to buy supplementary readers in English, and Maths resources.

The Christmas plays were very enjoyable this year with the ‘wee one’s’ plays being held in the school while the Seniors travelled down to St. Michael’s hall for their productions. It really felt like Hollywood with the lights, the microphones and the huge stage down there! It was a great experience for the children, and many hidden talents were spotted and encouraged. A very memorable few days and nights.

Last term saw the introduction of Tennis lessons for all the children in the school, and this term we hope to offer Tag Rugby to the children from Second to Sixth. This is being funded by the Rugby Association of Ireland and is due to start on Tuesday, January 15th . G.A.A. coaching begins for Second, Third and Fourth this term, and a word of Thanks also to Aidan McCabe who comes into the school every Tuesday from 3-4 p.m. to do football coaching with the boys. Ms. Lee and Ms. Anderson also give up their lunch breaks two days a week to do football and camogie coaching with the girls, and we thank them most sincerely for doing so.

Roseanna Clarke returns this term for Computer classes for all children from First to Sixth class. Currently lessons are being prepared in Powerpoint and Wordprocessing, and all are looking forward to their time in the Computer Room.

Upcoming events this term include:

  • Beginners classes in Irish for Parents on January 14th.
  • Parent teacher meetings on February 12th.
  • Confirmation on March 3rd.
  • Irish Concert on March 15th.
Please note that children are only insured on the school grounds between 9.20 a.m. and 3.00 p.m., unless they have their own Personal Accident Insurance.
